Isaac Tualaulelei is one of the FEW samoans that have decided to takethe dance route. Originally from Seattle, he started his dance training by learning choreography off of music videos by Michael & Janet Jackson. It wasn’t until high school that Isaac got serious about his passion for dance, forming his very own group “Point.Blank” with his high school friends. In 2003, Point.Blank landed a spot as one of 14 local contestants who performed at the “Showtime at the Apollo Tour” in Seattle. That same year, he began taking classes at Westlake Dance Center from Robert Luu, Kenny Harlow, Kari-Lee Florentine, Daniel Cruz, and Cameron Lee. Over the next several years he became a member of Team Boogiezone BREED – Seattle, Cruz Control, and most recently 2wisted Elegance. As a part of these companies, Isaac was apart of the Boogiezone production “EVE” – Dawn of a New Horizon, a number of Daniel Cruz’s “Battle of Seattle”, Seahawks half-time shows, Sign of the Times, and Maxt Out. In March of 2008, Isaac moved to Los Angeles, CA in hopes to pursue a professional career in the dance industry. His credits include:

HYPE STUDIOS – TORRANCE, CA

MEET NICK WILSON

Dance has always been a part of Nick Wilson’s life. Growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, Nick counts Michael Jackson, Turbo and Ozone among his biggest inspirations. When the feature film
You Got Served hit theatres in 2004, Nick knew he wanted dance to be his life. By the end of that year he had packed up and moved to Los Angeles, which he looks back on as the best decision he’s ever made. Without a moment’s hesitation he began training intensively and embarked on a career dancing professionally that has lasted for the past five years. Within a few years, dancing naturally progressed into choreographing, and the two continue to allow Nick the opportunity to learn from others as well as teach and inspire future generations of dancers. Dance now consumes Nick’s life and he wouldn’t have it any other way! Many of the same people that inspired him to start his career he now has the pleasure of working alongside.

Years of hard work and training have brought Nick together with such artists as Mariah Carey, Marques Houston, and Jessica Simpson. You may also have seen him performing with Mike Myers in the 2008 MTV Movie Awards. In addition, Nick has worked on commercials for Pepsi, K-Swiss and Nike, and is a member and choreographer of one of the hottest up-and-coming crews today, the D.O.C. (Disciples of Creativity). “I am truly blessed and can’t wait to use dance to change the world for the better!” Nick says.

ABOUT ULTIMATE BRAWL XI:

In its 11th year of existence, Ultimate Brawl has long been considered one of the finest shows put together in our ever-expanding dance community. Focusing on the desires of the dancers and audience, 909 strives to bring in California’s premier competition and exhibition dance teams under one roof for a friendly, warm and social experience unlike any other. With our 11th show, we’ve also included an additional segment of special performances by American Idol and some of Youtube’s finest artists. Ultimate Brawl differs greatly from its other, larger counterparts.. Both dancer and audience member alike can expect to be treated to a warm theater house setting. Unlike other organizations, 909 chooses to spend their money on unsurpassed hospitality. Also for the 21+ crowd, there is a fully stocked bar at the venue; no other competition can boast that perk. We can go on and on all day about how fun and rewarding Ultimate Brawl is, but the best way to experience it is live in person. Trust, the drive out to Riverside will be worth it at the end of the day.

A Breakdown of costs…

There are four different dance class tracks you can register for. You can enroll in 3 regular classes each day for all 3 days, for a total of (9) classes per dance track. Unlike the past two years, Boogiezone 3 is now OPEN LEVEL, similar to our weekly community classes, each class is structured to be taught as an Intermediate/Advanced level, but is open to anyone with the determination to learn – you can be an aspiring beginner or a professional. It doesn’t matter! Now, you can choose which track of classes to take based on which style or teacher you want to take from. There are (2) Hip Hop tracks and (2) Contemporary ones. This is considered our Regular Class Package. The cost of just these 9 Classes is $150.

Each day, after a short dinner break, we resume with our Specialty Classes: Foundation based Styles like Lockin’, Robot, Poppin’, How to Freestyle + more! The cost of ADDING these 6 classes to your regular class package will be an additional $50. So for a total of 15 classes the cost of BZU 3 is $200. Note: If you do not want to register for regular classes, but want to enroll in the Specialty ones only, you can for a cost of $75. You will eventually have to choose which 6 of the 12 Specialty classes offered you want to take.

GO FULLOUT WITH THE ALL ACCESS PASS!

This is the coolest thing you could ever take advantage of! Can’t decide on which class to take because they are all so good? Purchase the All Access “flex” pass which allows you to take any class of any style, level, and from any teacher you wish! All you do is add an additional $50 for a total of $250! Compared to other weekend dance conventions, and intensives, this is a great deal! Are you ready for this?

We are dancers.
We are writers.
We are artists.
We are activists.
We are storytellers.
We are The Industry Voice.

In November 2009, The Industry Voice (TIV)flew onto the scene as an email newsletter and has become Hollywood #1 news source for the underground dance & entertainment industry. When creator, Aliya Perry, a dancer/choreographer with Bloc Talent Agency, first moved to LA in 2008, she felt like a needle in a haystack. If you weren’t a celebrity or a booker, then you justweren’t recognized. So Aliya began to open her eyes and realized that there are thousands of artists in the same boat. She had a lot to say and needed an outlet to share her voice, so she decided to create a newsletterfor her family and friends back on the east coast. Her father, Gregory Perry, advised her to take it a step farther and told Aliya: “Only write 25% about yourself (your personal dance career) and 75% about everything else you are learning and experiencing out there in the California (the dance industry).”Well that is just what she did and The Industry Voice became a platform “Where Every Artist Can Be Heard.” From the newbies, to the up and coming, to the celebrities: the Industry Voice doesn’t discriminate and always spreads the truth about the dance industry.AND now the informative email newsletter has graduated into a blog (theindustryvoiceonline.com).

Over a year later, The Industry Voice (TIV) has developed a powerful team, where dancers are the writers. Who better to spread the truth about the dance industry, then the artists living the experience right now? This is TIV’s most powerful weapon and because of that it has reached great heights as a trusted resource. It made history by creating The 1st Annual Industry Voice Awards in Hollywood, CA, has gained numerous sponsors like Nappytabs, Boogiezone & Carnival Choreographers Ball, created a master class series andconducted a Haiti Benefit in 2010, which raised over $1000 towards the cause.

The Industry Voice will educate you on all the hottest events every month, artist or services you should get to know, Carnival Choreographers Ball and even offers spotlights with the dance industry’s heaviest hitters. This has included Brian Friedman, Tabitha & Napoleon, Marty Kudelka, David Moore, Rhapsody James, Darrin Henson, Tessandra Chavez, The Jabbawoockeezand all other winning from ABDC (America’s Best Dance Crew), Lil Mama and more.

The Industry Voice has gained a reputation for being original, having a purpose and fighting for artist equality. Fans across the world join in the mission everyday to fight against industry discrimination and create a world “Where Every Artist Can Be Heard.” They do this by simply supporting, reading and spreading the buzz about The Industry Voice phenomenon to friends, neighborsand/or peers.Thousands of artists have been recognized since November 2009 and that is because of The Industry Voice.

“I live an unpredictable life as an artist here in Los Angeles, CA. Each day is a new adventure. So over a year ago, I decided to share each month my experiences, research and more through an informative resource. My team and I make it our goal to update you on the latest events, people or places you should get to know, personals wins, upcoming events and more. My goal is to create a home for artistic minds to flourish and to continue networking as an artist myself. We have to remember that we are all hustling in this crazy industry together. And after gaining thousands of readers, I realize that this was a much-needed service. Your support is the reason why TIV is still thriving. Thank You and Much love.” – Aliya Perry

ABOUT KEEPING IT 1OO

The point and purpose of this particular Blog “Keeping it 100″ is to offer Boogiezone’s “innervoice” an opportunity to exercise itself. While you may not always agree with the content, nature, or approach of this particular Boogiezone Corner, just remember that it is being offered here purely for entertainment purposes. We want to get the juices flowing in our community, and to do it this way we thought would be an interesting way to go about it. Yes, that’s right. Keeping it 100 will be nurtured, and hosted by a mysterious Boogiezone member. Uhuh. “A” stands for Anonymous! Feel free to guess who the person is behind these writings if you can, but it will be our mission to protect this persons identity for obvious reasons! If you have any issues or comments that you would like “A” to address in the future, a special email address will be provided upon request.

Note: “A” will update this blog with entries whenever “A” feels like it, so check back often!

“The truth will either hurt you or set you free…”

Here is “A’s” First Unofficial Entry. For now a simple cut and paste:

I, A, do solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I swear that in the U.S., about 50,000 people die each year from secondhand smoke-related diseases (Source: www.truth.com).

I swear that our President is a black mutt – Kenyan and Hawaiian to be exact. (Source: www.whiteHouse.gov).

I swear that Boo is the cutest dog on the planet. (Source: www.Facebook.com/Boo)

My truths – you see, are actually OUR truths about the dance community. You thought it…I just have the balls (and the pleasure of anonymity and reach) to actually say it.

I have the balls to say: ABDC is stupid for not taking MWC. (Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx-XwJmQWus)

I have the balls to say: NO ONE understood the theme of Kaba Modern’s VIBE 2011 set. (Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiiUzNHGSPg)

I have the honor to say: When Mari & Keone got engaged, the heavens shined, the choir sung and all was right in the world.

I admit - My mood will change but though I can be sour or sweet, I am always spicy. You like that, baby? Oh yeah, because I’m about to give it to you straight.

Truth: It’s not always what you want, but it’s what you need. And in due time, you, too will be addicted.

Get that jockstrap ready because I’m Keeping It 100% Real – the Gospel According to A.
